We continue creating in the middle of the quarantine due to the covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.
In the strange time of confinement worldwide that we are living, which seems to be from a science fiction movie, the media outlet PRODU published on its website produ.com a note from an interview previously made to our founder Camilo Hernández about our process in Zykax during these challenging times that we live today.
In the midst of the global public health emergency, we share with you the original interview and then the link to read the note on produ.com.
The interview.
PRODU: How has the production business been hampered after the crisis caused by the coronavirus?
CAMILO HERNÁNDEZ: Due to the current state of our first original properties of fantasy and science fiction that are Cosmic Flow, Plantimals, Tiz y Delirium, as of today we have not suffered any considerable direct impact on the creation of original content derived from them.
On the other hand, we have concerns about the dynamics of business rounds and national and international markets, which we plan to attend in the second half of the year. For now, in the event that this global crisis spreads, we are looking at alternatives that allow us to use virtual media to manage our commercial operation and find co-production or sale of our first original content.
Now, some animation production schemes that we had established in person for certain technical processes, we have migrated to cloud tools with organization strategies for work from home.
PRODU: How many and which recordings have they had to suspend?
CAMILO HERNÁNDEZ: None. Since before this juncture, our focus and energy has always been concentrated on creation, writing, conceptual art and in some cases, on specific animation processes.
PRODU: What is the best way to “take advantage” or transit this situation?
CAMILO HERNÁNDEZ: Working from home at this juncture helps us stay creative, broaden our vision of our own creations, and refresh our ideas. We have the premise of taking advantage of this moment to continue creating and to pay attention to our families and those leisure or entertainment activities that stimulate creativity.
PRODU: Is it time to produce something new? More economical?
CAMILO HERNÁNDEZ: We deeply believe in the power of imagination, and we are sure it is a great time to create original content derived from universes and properties of fantasy and science fiction.
We consider that independent of this situation, it is always wise to invest part of our time in developing new concepts that have the potential to become quality original properties and / or content in the future.
We know that for the gestation of any original content, this crisis is a good opportunity for the development of creative phases. And in addition, we can rely on techniques such as animation, for example, with which practically anything can be narrated with the implementation of most of its production processes remotely, but nevertheless, we must rethink the processes of commercialization and distribution in these times of crisis.
PRODU: How do you see the scenario of content production once the pandemic is overcome?
CAMILO HERNÁNDEZ:
The power of imagination is the strength of our species and as we have seen it throughout history, after great crises art flourishes and the demand for original content as well. Great changes are coming in the collective consciousness of humanity, and we hope that they will serve to give much more value to art, original stories and those memorable characters that remind us of who we really are.
Great opportunities are coming with resounding and definitive changes in the organization models of our creative companies. After the pandemic, collaborative processes among human talent will be further enhanced, with work structures focused on efficiently managing processes remotely from anywhere in the world. It will be created with the force that I have never seen before in my generation, and all this will result in an explosion of creative content in various formats.
